Materials

We will be honest with you: fully tracing the origin of metals and gemstones from mine to finished piece is, for most of the jewelry industry, not yet possible. We are no exception. But honesty about what we cannot control makes us more rigorous about what we can.

Silver

In India, we buy raw silver and process it ourselves — melting, alloying with copper and zinc, then drawing it into the sheets and wire our pieces are made from. In Thailand, we accompany the process closely from the start. All our metals are tested to ensure they meet our quality standards, regardless of our presence during production. Our silver is 925 — 92.5% pure silver, alloyed for durability.

Brass

Our brass is made of 65% copper and 35% zinc — a clean, nickel-free alloy that we work with directly and test consistently.

Gold Plating

Gold plating requires cyanide — one of the most toxic substances used in jewelry production. Most brands don't talk about this. We do. We ensure that every gold plating workshop we work with uses proper protective equipment and has a responsible waste management policy in place. This is non-negotiable for us.

Gemstones

We purchase polished stones directly from stone polishers in Jaipur, India — cutting out intermediaries and allowing us to specify exactly how stones are cut and finished for our pieces. Where needed, we provide raw stones directly to be processed to our requirements.

We have made a conscious decision not to work with diamonds, jade or sapphires. The likelihood of these stones having been mined under inhumane conditions is, based on everything we know, too high for us to accept. There are beautiful stones in the world that come with far less human cost — and those are the ones we work with.

We are not a perfect brand. But we ask the questions, we show up in person, and we make different choices when we can. That is what materials mean to us.
